PNG to text for sharp screenshots and scans
PNG is the default format for many desktop screenshots and for scans that need crisp edges. A png to text workflow with Photo2Text means dropping that file into the tool, choosing a language, and running recognition entirely on your device. We emphasize best-effort OCR: clean source images still matter more than any marketing claim about perfect accuracy.
When PNG outperforms JPG
Interface fonts, thin strokes, and high-contrast diagrams survive PNG encoding without JPEG blocking artifacts. If you already have a PNG capture of an error dialog or spreadsheet snippet, keep it as PNG rather than re-encoding for email. For camera photos that are already JPEG, use JPG to Text instead — converting JPG→PNG does not restore lost detail.
